Julie - In Progress - 6" x 8" - Oil on Linen Panel

Julie - In Progress

Julie is one of seven small portraits I am painting for Francine,  a client and dear friend,  who lives in Caen, France.  The seven are her grandchildren.

Francine was in Georgetown mid September and was thrilled with the results so far.  I have finished one, have three that are near completion and three more to attack!  All seven will be ready for her when she returns in May.

Working on such a small surface is interesting and challenging.  Telling the story concisely and at the same time revealing the personality - spirit of each child - is the task.

I have met these young people - and as I become intimately acquainted through the portrait process - found it exciting to pin point each aura, and to allow the aura to permeate the canvas.

If anyone has an interest - I am accepting commissions at this time.

Fishing - Ricefield - Georgetown, SC

Fishing - Ricefield

Georgetown, SC

Signed this morning, this oil on stretched canvas is 16" x 20".  It is "resting" for a week or so, then will be framed.

The story - drifting along the river, I saw this gentleman fishing and snapped several photos.  Wonder how many he took home for dinner that afternoon?

This is one of several new and recent paintings that I am offering for Christmas 2013.  I will be glad to ship the painting if you are not in my area.

My email address: www.artigal@hotmail.com, and I am on face book, Jean Hanna.  Email or message me for details.

Sheep Grazing

First session - Sheep Grazing!  Notice, the sheep have not arrived.  This is a scene from one of my trips to Normandy.  I am always fascinated with sheep, and their symbolism.  I promise to post the finished product.  Have been trying to recapture and sounds, color - the general feel of that morning - and it has become a virtual vacation for me.

Keep watching - and stay posted.l

Pig Pen Oaks

October

Pig Pen Oaks was executed on an archival canvas panel.

This scene is very typical of the American South and is located five miles from my studio.

Oaks are my passion - and I often stylize them, which infuses the canvas with fantasy.

I am not a fan of total realism - the attack I employ usually follows an emotional trail - and this is a very warm painting.

I would love to hear your feedback.

The dimensions of the painting are 8" x  10" - Oil on Canvas Panel.

If there is interest in purchasing this piece, please leave a comment here, or contact me through my email address: artigal@hotmail.com.

Summer

This is a quick little painting I finished a few days ago.

This is the first canvas in the Summer 2013 series.  These offerings are timed so that I have to think fast, make good decisions and refrain from overworking!

Fishing - Rice Fields

First Block in of a painting I have been wanting to execute for a long time.  Got myself together this morning, stretched a canvas and blocked this one in.  It is 16" x 20".

I will continue to post future sessions - for now, it is very wet (oil paint) and needs to set before the next session!
